seriously, does anyone use a scabbard at all?
or any pack where you carry your gun with you?

I have the guide spotter pack. I looked at the scabbard but decided not to add more weight to the pack.

I use the day pack and it works great. Holds all items needed and more. Don't use the scabbard as I don't like extra weight hanging off my back. It's a nice pack system if you want to add to it.

I've used the day pack w/scabbard on sheep and goat hunts. I've found it to work very well. I like it because I can also use the scabbard on my saddle on the way in, and then convert to the day pack for climbing the rough places during the day.
