Only in JO's world can a load that doesn't exist win a pissing contest. Here's a hint for you - just because you can punch imaginary numbers into JBM does mean you won an arguement.

Load a 208 A-Max in one of your .308s to 2600fps (you might want to pull the trigger with a string). Zero it at 200, then shoot it out to 1k and post the real come-ups, not some imaginary JBM numbers. Do the same with a 7-08 162 at 2700fps and post the results. Take pictures and video the chrono session so we can see the numbers. Until then, you're as full of [bleep] as a Christmas goose.

I don't think that JO really cares about the load in question...

(I think) he is trying to prove that TryMe isn't playing nice.
Guess what Jeff, THATS WHAT HIS INTENTION WAS IN THE FIRST PLACE!
Let it go man, let it go.

Eees a valid load, mon. Much to your chagrin.

Now we're hunting at a THOUSAND yards with our 7-08 or .308? Goodness. That's news to me. I make no representation of nuthin' out that far. Have not even looked at the numbers. You may be right.

But out as far as I looked- Shane's .308 load hangs with or exceeds TrMe's rather nicely. Spin a bullet of similar BC at a similar speed, and the results are similar. Sorry if that'd a feather-ruffler but it is what it is.

It ain't complicated, but some would like to make it so.

Well darn.

Here I thought we had a nice little way out for everyone. The 7-08 smokes the .308 at 1000 yards, I say "wow, look at that!", Larry saves face, we all move on.

Unfortunatly, it ain't so. Ran the numbers, I can post 'em if necessry but in all honesty, why? You guys have made up your minds: if Larry says it, then it is so! Well, sorry... Don't kill the messenger... He's factually wrong on this one.

Just sayin' .

I no, I don't care about the particulars in this case. I actually prefer 7-08, myself. I care about what's true, and punching a bully in the nose ain't ever a bad thing, as a side bonus.

Yeah, I was just looking at the Alaskan Ti and it looks a little "off" to me.

This on the other hand is sexy!

I own at least a dozen .308 Winchesters and there are some areas in which it is superior to the 7mm-08 and some not.

The fact is that the 7mm-08 with normal loads, will shoot as flat as a .270 Win as some ranges, and flatter than the best .308 at some ranges. At long ranges, that doesn't matter so much as knowing exactly what the range is, and much the drops out of your rifle are at each one.

A good shooter will a .45-70 and iron sights can beat someone with a .338 Lapua at 1,000 yards, if the .338 shooter doesn't know how to shoot his rifle.( Pick your own examples if you don't like those two.) 1,000 yard ballistics are irrelevant to hunting with the 7mm-08 or .308 Win.

I love my 7mm-08s. Great for deer, antelope, sheep.

Rem Shooter- please accept apologies to a new member as yourself. This thread is an embarrassment to the sight.
