Do you have any reports about the Rossi/Legacy in 454Casull/480Ruger. How do they perform, weakness, accuracy (hunting not bench rest). Better buy 454 or 480?
A friend of me will import some in France for our market and i need to get information before buying one.
Many thanks.

Dom

I had one in .454. Loved it. The action was very smooth and strong. Carbine handled well in the hands, pointed and shot very well. It shot .45LCs or .454s equally well, though with markedly different recoil.

Stock design was poor for recoil, and that made a difference with the .454s. However, it was nothing that a decent pad wouldn't fix, and when you're launching 300s at 1900+ from a 6# carbine, well, expect recoil to be "lively".

The little swing safety was ridiculous, and should be removed (a tang safety would be perfect, if one is needed).

Get the .454; far more flexible platform.

I'll have one again, easily.

.

I agree, get the 454. Ammo will be much easier to obtain. It can fire the 45 colt ammo as well as the 454 Casull ammo.

I've got a Puma and it is a sweet gun. I used to have one in .44 Mag. and it was excellent as well. My current one is a 44-40. No complaints. In fact, I was shooting it yesterday with some hot loads I loaded up probably twenty or so years ago.

I have the 454 and love it with the 45 colts my wife shoots it very comfortably and she is small. As stated above with the heavy 454 loads it will whack ya a bit, but not anything to worry about.

Thanks for your advice, beerrunner, think will use mostly heavy 45Colt load except when tracking big wild boars or red deers, then will go to the 454, even if i don't really need it. Just for the fun!!!

I have one in .480. I like the rifle and the cartridge. Upside: 410gr @1300+fps in a light loading and less pressure than the .454. Downside less components available.pak
