Hi Folks, Now that I have acquired a .308 I need some blue ribbon loads for it.
The components I have on hand are
Powder: IMR 4895 , Reloader 15, IMR 4350, and Reloader 22 Bullets: Hornady 150gr. SST, Sierra 165 gr Btsp, Combined Technologies 168 BTST, and Nosler 180 gr. Ball. Tip. Winchester cases and CII and Federal lr Br primers.
My main use for this rifle will be deer in steep rough places , Black Bear, and the ocassional varmint.
Thanks for the input.

I've had consistent sub moa accuracy with RL15, in my Rem 700 VS LH.
46gr RL15/Nosler J4 168gr
43gr RL15/Sierra 190gr Matchking, moly-coated.
Haven't tried any game bullets as of yet.

I get .5 groups in my Rem. LTR 308 using 43.5 gr. R15, 168 gr. Sierra BT, and Fed. match primer. The 165 gr. Nosler BT shoots almost as good, and hits the same point of impact. I can interchange these loads with the same sight setting, Target or big game. I'm sure the 165 Sierra would shoot right in there also. As for varmit loads, try the 125 gr. Speer. I havn't worked up a load yet in the 308, but have one that will shoot under 1" in my 30-06 (with the same point of impact as the 165 Sierra) Virgil B. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Alan, Haven't shot anything with the 168's yet, but wouldn't hesatate to poke a deer with this load. Am thinking the 165 Nosler would probably work better.... Virgil B.

Hi Folks, Thanks for the info. I loaded up some 150gr. Hornady SST w/ 45.0 grains of IMR 4895, 165 gr. Sierra w/ a starting load of 43.0 grains of RL 15 and some 168 grain Combined Technology w /43.0 grains of RL 15 before my seating die went south on me. I hope to get to the range this afternoon if the Thunderstorms will hold off. Good Shooting, HBB
