Would Woodleigh's 535, 570 and 600 grain bullets not work? Could be a COAL issue. Don't know how fast the 50 AK could push bullets that heavy so they may not suit the purpose (velocity out of design parameters), but they are there if needed.
I believe the COL as well as velocity is an issue for those bullets. They are designed for muzzle velocities in the 2200-2400 range, which I believe is a bit higher then the 50 AK can produce.
I do have a 470 gr bullet mold that seems like about a nee plus ultra bullet for the 50 AK
1800 FPS 500 Grain .510 Diam bullet's 50 AK
Now a 50-110 is a diffrent story it fit's right in with thoses speed's
Ed there is the cheap route you could go ..It takes longer...
just head to your local gun shop and look for a good/sound Marlin lever action in 45/70 make sure it's the new mod rifle..No micro goove.... that should run you about 350.00 ..... Next ...In time take the rifle to the local gunsmith and have the barrel bored out to .510.. next ..In time take it back once it's been bored out to .510 have it rechambered to 50 Alaskan.
and so on ..so it would be spread out over time . it may take a few year's but atleast you could see the light at the end of the tunnel
why one with no micro-groove rifling? Even if you don't like micro groove rifling, your are having it rebored to .50 so what does it mater???
The "modern" Marlin 1895 was introduced in 1972. I believe the Marlin 1895 had Ballard style rifling up to 1974 or there abouts. The Microgroove barrels were produced from the mid-1970s until Marlin switched to all Ballard rifling in the late 1990s or early in the 21th Century. All Marlin 1895 45-70 rifles produced since 1972 are considered "modern." I suppose I could go to the Marlin Collectors forum and find out the exact dates of these changes. Hence, a modern Marlin 1895 with a Microgroove barrel would be a perfect candidate for a 50 AK conversion. However, a rebarrel would probably be a better solution than a rebore.

if i were to sell this rifle what maybe the asking price? I'm in a spot that i need some extra money i have only shot a couple of boxes thru and it shoots better than i do. thanks chris
What you have done is not nearly as important as how you have done it!!! The Old Fart 2008 A.D.
here is the link. you could not have the rifle built for the $$ i need out of this one. simple economics forces me to sell i hope the lucky guy appreciates it as much as i do. thanks chris
