I am thinking about getting one of these in a syn/stls in a 50. I am just wondering if any of you have worked with one of these.
I am not looking for ideas or opinions on anything else just about this one. So if you've experience I'd appreciate hearing from you.
Many thanks
Dogz

I understand they are amoungst the top of the heap with the in-line crowd. No dis-respect intended to this sight,, but try a search for Greaybeards Outdoors and like to that "modern BP" "or BP in-line" board,,,there's lots of folks there that are very current..
Good luck,,,
p.s. got any flint??

I personally think Graybeards inline forum sucks! If you need recommendations on a couple of good ones... email me.
The Omega is still the #1 consumer-satisfied inline ML since it was introduced around three years ago. T/C has the best warranty in the business. It even transfers with ownership.... no receipt necessary.... no need to dismount scopes to find serial numbers either. A part can go bad 15 years from now... call TC - mail it -- get it back in 6-9 days FREE.
The Omega is one of three T/C inlines that actually likes & accurately shoots magnum powder charges. The only other manufacturer that offers target groups like this is Knight. The Omega's not fussy... will nicely shoot 200-375 grain sabot/bullets. It's a breeze to clean & resale value makes it easier to sell.
On the not-so-great side... Omega synthetic stocks are a tad noisy & need to be to filled with poly-foam spray to improve them. You may also want to purchase heavy gloves with a lighter trigger finger because the Omega has a smallish trigger guard. Despite this, many regular forumites on the web own Omegas & Encores. If you read the forums like we do & participate regularly, you find out quickly what's best in the world of MLs & accessories.
Hope this helps!

I liked the Omega so much that I traded away my TC Encore muzzleloader barrel. I don't know how you can go wrong with one.
I put a Leupold 2.5 x 8 x 36 scope on it and it handles like a dream. The trigger is really good.
I cannot speak to "magnum" loadings, I only use two 50 grain pellets of 777 Hogdon with TC Shockwaver sabots. It shoots better than I can.
Try it, you will like it.

Tacks,
Speaking of got any flint, do you know of a reasonably priced source of flints? Stuck in the middle of nowhere here, I need to get them shipped anyway, so thought I'd check if you knew of one. Nothing like rock on steel for ignition!

Except for his first paragraph I have to agree with TripleSeven, though I concurr that he has every right to that opinion. Hated to see him leave GB....
I have a syn/blued in .45 and it shoots well, cleans easily and I haven't found it lacking anywhere except for the stock and that was easily fixed with the foam. The only other muzzleloader I would consider at this moment is the Savage and that's due only to their use of smokeless powder.
Long story short, the Omega is a good one... Most who have one, love it, I'm one of them.
No need to switch forums for informed answers either.... There are more than a few well informed muzzleloaders lurking about here.

Thx for your replies fellas, I do appreciate your time.
The Omega seems like it is quite easy to clean, that is one of the things that kind of draws me to it.
I did notice the smallish trigger guard as well, but I do feel I can sort that out.
I kind of think it would be a blast to hunt lopes with it.
Gotta run thanks again for your time and input.

The only drawback to the Omega .50 cal. is the Trigger guard extension. When you decide to stick 150 grains of powder in it behind a 350+ bullet, Hang on tight. DO NOT place your off hand behind the guard overlapping your shooting hand. The extension will remind you immediately what an idiot you are. A cracked bone in the top of my left hand was my reminder.
