There is a court case pending in Alaska concerning an Alaskan Outfitter who is accused killing wolves using an aircraft.

What do you Alaskans know?

There was an aerial wolf control program in progress in that area and it is my understanding in talking to family that he is accused of shooting wolves outside of that area [over the line]. This case needs a fair trial......this outfitter/guide is not considered an outlaw by anyone that knows him.

In personal conversations with him and friends of his, he is taking this hard... Most hunters think he deserves a medal, but, that is clearly not in the cards and he expects it to be ugly.

On July 8, the fellow whose murder jury I sat on is to be sentenced. We convicted him of shaking a baby to death and evidence shows it was not a solitary event, nor is there any remorse or regret being displayed. I will be watching the two to look for any semblence of parity.

Anyone care to wager about how the State will view the cases? What kind of multiple (year-wise) do you think an infant life is worth compared to an excess wolf life?

Btw, some months ago a bloke here in Germany killed a wolf (which are protected) in "self defence" (yes we do have some wolves over here).

Although the greens and bambi huggers are quite abundant in our country, he only had to pay a fine only (3 grand if I remember correctly). Not even the rifle was taken away. So much for comparison.

Part of the paradox in our culture is the fact that since Roe vs. Wade it is estimated over 30 million babies have been aborted and yet "we" have become zealots in protecting and prosecuting in regard to the individual lives of some creatures.

That should not be a shock. Abortion is nothing more than a process to avoid responsibility.

It's not hard to find that mindset in most liberal thinking.

I am thinking *welfare* here...among other "forward thinking" programs.

Ack--hem, back to the subject of wolf killing, I sure feel sorry for the outfitter. Looks like the Possum Sherrifs are trying to justify their existance by nailing a hide to the barn door. Too bad. I hope he can wiggle out of it someway.

I haven't heard anything new on thecase perhaps others can help. Either way, he will probably lose some business this year as I believe the state still has the conficated super cub....I'm not sure about the status of his guide license.

Just made a call to some that know... he has some letters being written in his defense... he is admitting the act... the State has not said what they are to do...

They have discussed a lifetime guiding ban!!! He shoulda been a pedophile <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> and I say that in anything but a light manner...

They should make some posters of this guy. Anyone that kills a Wolf is a neer God in my eyes. Even if it isnt here in Wyoming!!! I hprey that this man will have a propper justice a fine I could see as being fair, anything more than that is just wrong.

That's the response I expected. I am not trying to change any ones mind. It is just my opinion that law breakers do not deserve respect, and as far as predator control this is a step backward.
