I am in the market for a new pot call. I use diaphram calls now but I would like an alternate. Slate, aluminum, crystal, glass, etc. the choices and makers are endless. What is your reccomendation?

I'm really digging my new glass call from Andy Kaiser. It is curly maple with a purpleheart soundboard and an ebony striker. There is a real hen with a medium tone and a bit of rasp bottled up in there. The craftsmanship is superb and the sound is better...

I bought a couple of WoodHaven calls this year after lusting for one sense I first heard one.
I like both the crystal and slat calls alot.

I have glass, slate and metal and all kinds of sticks of different material.

Its really tough to make that call. So much is decided on by the bird. We might like the sound, but if they don't, what good is call.

The only thing i CAN say for certain, is that turkeys in my neck of the woods like a higher sweeter pitch like off a triple glass or metal call with no rasp. Liek a young hen.

in my experience, its really a crap shoot. What works with them fickle feather fowl one day will be ignored the next.
