I did a search, but the info was old.......

My son will be working in the DC area this summer and I'd like to buy a gps for him to use in the car........don't need all the latest bells and whistles like mp3 etc, just need something to help him get around.........

Any recommendations??

Both my sons, and I, use the Garmin 265WT. Very capable unit, with lots of bells and whistles, not the most expensive of the bunch.

Highly recommend it.

Another vote for the Nuvi. It was only 200 at Sams Club

Garmin Nuvi all the way! If you don't want all the bells and whistles, get the cheapest one they have. For about $30 more then their cheapes, you can get a bigger screen and a few more b&w's, namely voice prompts for every turn.

I've used them for years, and they are great. Even had one on my Harley when I crashed at 75mph, and the damn thing still works!

GonHuntin....Cabelas has over 400 reviews on their entire line of Nuvis. It's quite thorough if you're still in the research phase.I tried to link it for you but my laptop voids the attempt for some reason.

Steely loves voice prompts. It gives him something to yell at while traveling. smile

Does he like to yell at it, too.

An Issac Hayes or Samuel Jackson version could be fun. "Turn left [bleep]&*(%!!!"

Kinda like this. (language advisory)

Samuel L. Jackson would be funny.

How about this for a car alarm...
