Minus the mud slinging...( you guys imitating AR/PF?)

Am currently testing loads for a friends 308 Savage, and I have the twin in 7/08....

there sure are a lot more bullet choices with the 7/08, which surprises me...

after testing loads for his 308, which are accurate enough... I am glat I chose the 7/08 and 260 Rem for the applications that my friend chose the 308....

Hey guys, I gotta stir the pot a little......
Plug this in your ballistic calculaters.

This from the lowly .243 winchester, not even AI'd
115 grain DTAC bullet at .585 BC
3150 fps.

Then compare it to the above 7/08 load.

I have had some interest in a 7/08 for sometime(I own a 308 Montana.) However, a 260 sounds kind of intriguing, as well.
Some of those 6.5mm pills have some pretty impressive numbers.

I looked hard at the .260 before I got my 7-08, they had both where I bought mine. It came down to bullet selection and the cartridge attributes UNDER 500 yards. Already have two lightweight 308's.

I sure wish Stick would show up to bail all us guys who can get a 160ish grain bullet to go 2700 out of our 22" barreled 7-08's...with published data. For a guy that owns Kimbers, he really seems to lack the knowledge of what a tight chamber can do with published data.

According to the protagonist, he left the thread after Scorp showed a pic of his hand.

Apparently the only thing slower than the rifles is the owner.

That bullets even more impressize in a 6XC, not as fast, but they run spreads in the single digits.

Besides Larry'd just tell you that we're not talking about match rifles here... While he shoots deer with a MATCH bullet [WTF?]

2700 fps with RL15. That's the important part. My manuals show speeds in the 2500's somewhere with max loads of the stuff. From a 26" pressure barrel, no less.

Whether or not 2700 fps is do-able in general, I don't know.

Whether it's doable with RL15 and a very looooong bullet (over 1.4") without going WAY over book max and single loading the rounds due to length issues, well, I have my doubts. I suspect not.

But we still don't know, because TryMe got awfully cagey about it, then fuggin' LEFT, when pressed to post his load. And then a bunch of you guys got truly juvenile trying to hide the fact that your hero had gotten confronted with reality, and chickened out and split.

And no, I wasn't playing lumberjack. I was finishing cutting, loading, splitting, and stacking my 4-5 cords of wood for next winter. You want to see a pic? I'll include a Special Hand Signal so you'll know it's me <grin>.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but I didn't labor through the whole thread.

My 49th edition Lyman manual has a 162 grain Hornady doing 2690 out of a 24" barrel. This was with Rem. brass and primers ans 41.5 grains of RL15. They show 51,000 CUP, top end but not really hairy. Overall length was 2.8 inches.

That's a reasonable combination for a reasonable person to check out. smile

It is my understanding that Socialists control the country and industry through regulation and taxation, while Communists do it by taking control of the actual means of production.

Any questions? smile
