I have an 870 Express in for a new front bead. The only problem is I don't see what is holding the old one in??? It doesn't want to unscrew. I would be grateful if someone could give me a clue! GWN

I stand corrected! The only ones I have done are on quite old 870s. It would be a cheaper way to do it. Thanks for the update.

Are they all done that way now, or just the Express models? I would be surprised if they were different, but I am curious...

All the 870 express guns use a pressed bead.

put several layers of your favorite no mar tape on the barrel. get a small piece if wood slightly higher than the bead is tall to use as the fulcrum. with a pair of dull side cutter pliers used like a pitman arm fork grasp the bead below the maximum circumferance and pry it up and out. do not apply to much side pressure as you do not want to cut it off just pry it out. now you are looking at a big hole. it is bigger than a #6. it does clean up at a #8. so drill and tap it 8-40 and use that size bead.
