For my deer/game rifles I used to try to keep 2 bags in reserve. Now I keep 5-10 bags.

Depends on how common and how expensive it is, but for my Ultramags, My 7mm STW and my 8mm Rem Mag I have 150-200 pieces of each. Nice thing is that in a pinch, the 7mm and 300 Ultramags as well as the 7mm STW and the 8mm mag are just a pass through the sizing die away from becoming their close relative.

This past year's election has made me take a harder look at how much reloading supplies I want to have in reserve. Not hoarding but want to make sure I have enough to keep me shooting critters and targets for several years.

I try to keep 500 pieces for each caliber, though at the present moment I'm a little short on some newer calibers I have. I'm thinking of upping the count and doing some serious reloading and keeping 500 rounds of loaded ammo per caliber. Right now I've got 200 rounds (1/2 hunting, 1/2 practice) per caliber.

With the exception of oddball stuff like my 300 H&H or 416 Rigby, brass is the last component I stockpile.

For 'common' calibers like 30-06, .338, .280, 100 cases for shooting is my minimum for bolt actions. In addition, I would like to have a new bag of 50 stashed back for lean times.

I cant imagine dropping the cash on 500 pieces so something as common as .270. I would put the money toward bullets instead.

Recycling brass is 'green', LOL, but environmentally evil ol lead bullets have their days numbered.

For .223 I have ~ 1500 pieces; I ordered 1k OFB back when it could be had for $20 + shipping. For big game calibers, I keep around 100 pieces or so. For my .204, I keep 3-4 hundred.

2000 223 2000 assorted bullets
1000 308 2500 assorted bullets
500 708 300 assorted bullets
500 30-30 500 assorted bullets

When things get back in reason I will pick up a little more but this should do a little while. Midway has some 308 Winchester at the moment but don't how long it will last, picked up 500 rds yesterday. first I've fond in months.

I stock pile by buying a few bags here there. I shoot the odd ball calibers like the 222, 358 and 350 Rem Mag.
222 1200 cases
358 1400 cases seasonal run
350 mag 600 cases.

I'm about where you are.. Although, I have a few chamberings where the brass count is over 1K...

I keep at least 200 cases for each rifle. Which means I have about 1200 30-06 and at least 1000 45-70. I keep lots of bins and am very anal about labeling.

Try to keep 200 pieces of brass in each Caliber on hand.

Lately I have been picking up new brass on a monthly basis 50 here 50 there because eventually prices will go go up.
