Hey, Magnum, did you ever get your gun store deal put together?

Hey 257
Still kicking things around a bit. I received my forms from ATF, looked at some business space in my town.

Now you have the 9mm in a .380 size gun and .380's that are almost as small as the .25, so there is little reason to carry it.

+1.

I know a couple of folks with the Baby Brownings.

Nice little gun for jogging.

Might be hard to get stocked right now anyway. Lots of guns, but ammo and reloading would be tough. It would be a big step, not to be taken lightly.

I carried a .25 Colt as a "boot gun" for several years. Kept it loaded with KTW armor piercing and hollowpoints, alternating each in the mag. Figured the KTW would knock a hole in bone, the HP would do damage to tissue. Figured it was better than nothing if needed.
Sold it when Glock came out with their model 27 in .40S&W.

I read a story a few years ago about a guy who tried to commit suicide with a 25ACP. It didn't work ,the bullet pierced the skin came in contact with his skull and traveled to the off side of his head between his skull and skin, only gave him a headache and a bloody mess to clean up. I guess you could say that it isn't good enough to take your own life with.

True. The Keltec P-3AT, for example.

I wouldn't choose to carry one if I had better choices but wouldn't want to be shot with one

My father in-law won a Kel-Tec 32 at an NRA banquet a few years ago. Despite trying 5 or 6 different brands on ammo he couldn't get find anything that wouldn't jam within 10 shots. Usually more like 3 or 4

I've always thought of the .25 acp as being a "shoot 'em in the face and then run like hell" kind of weapon.

Doesn't have to kill or cripple. Just distract the SOB long enough so you can high-tail it out of the bar.

Nowadays they have vest pocket sized auto pistols in .380 ACP. What would be the point in choosing a .25 ACP?

Damn, all this talk about inadequacy is gonna make my little pimped out(nickeled, MOP grips) FN 1908 feelin' bad.

Cool little gun.

RE: "Is The .25 ACP Good For Anything?"
--------------------------------------
Yes. The .25 acp is good for shooting in all the historical little pistols that were made for this round. True, there are better (and bigger) calibers out there, but ... ...

I have a little Beretta .25 auto mfg'd in 1956. I bought it "like new" in the early 70's. It was a gun I carried for many years, in my jacket pocket or under my belt. Guess I thought it was too small to need a license or permit ... but things were different back then.

I always liked the little pistol and I still do - I never felt really "alone" when by myself at night, when in strange places with stranger people. My .25 auto gave my naivete a lot of (false) comfort and confidence.

It also accompanied me on many remote fishing/camping trips. It was fun to shoot- fairly accurate- and never missed a beat.

I have shot and killed 2 big fish and a good sized rattlesnake with it. I ate the fish.

For the first several Bond novels (not the movies), 007 carried a 25 ACP. Thinking that this was not manly enough, they graduated him to the mighty 32 ACP which they touted as "having an impact like a brick through a plate glass window." Well, compared to the 25, I guess...

I can surely tell by reading these posts that 99% of you have never been in a shootout using your 25 or 32. This is good because had you been, you most likely would not be here to post.

Now if your gonna carry something for the sake of your self-defense on the street etc. Make damn sure it is at least a 9mm "long" caliber. I myself like the .40's & 45's to bet my life on in a jam.
