All,
I had intended to use my 2-8 Lightseeker on my new 375, but when I mounted it I realized that I don't feel comfortable with that scope's modest eye relief. Another issue is that I probably need a scope with a long body (long between the bells) as it will be mounted on a Sako magnum length action, and I don't know that anybody makes any specialty mounts that would let me use a shorter scope. My 2.5-8x36 VX-III is about an inch or so too short between the bells or I would be happy to use it.
All experiences or recommendations are appreciated, but keep in mind that I'm not prepared to drop $1,000+ on a major piece of optics.

I love my 1.5 - 5x Leupold. It was on a 375 H&H that's been transformed into a 500 Jeffery (don't ask me why lol). It has enough eye relief for me with the 500 Jeffery so far, so it should be perfect for a 375 H&H if you don't need more magnification.

I have a Leupold 1.5-6x32 on my current .375 H&H and used the same scope on my first one. No problems with eye relief or anything else. Both withstood the rigors of travel to Africa and Alaska with no hiccups. I use these same scopes on both of my 9.3s and just ordered another to replace the scope on my .338-06.

Kragman1 .......Kragman..........The mounting tube length on your 2.5-8x36 VX111 is listed at 5.1" while the 1.75-6x32 VX3 is 5.4" and the 1.5-5x20 lists at 5.5 inches. The max tube length measurement on my 1.5-5x20 VX111 is 5 5/8" without the front scope ring covering any portion the gold ring. (Can`t cover that gold ring up!!) If you need more space than that, then you may have one or both offsets going in the wrong direction which are spreading your scope rings too far apart. If that`s the case you may need to make a change there. No reason why a 1.5-5x20 VX3 cannot work on a 375 H&H length action assuming the right offsets are used. I believe the right offsets can be used without them extending over any part of your action. My 1.5-5x20 VX111 sits on a 375 Ruger Alaskan, which is a shorter action with mounting room to spare. Do your offset rings look like this?..< rifle butt _] action [_ muzzle > You want the rings as close as possible without anything protruding over any part of the action. If you already have that set-up and your 2.5-8x36 doesn`t work, then go for the 1.5-5x20 VX3. That magnification imo, is about as ideal for a 375 as you can get.

I have 1.75-6x32 Leupolds on both of my 375 H&H's. The Model 70 has Leupold QD rings and bases with an extension ring on the front. The CZ wears Tally mounts. I find this to be an excellent scope as it has enough magnification and lots of field of view when backed off for closeups.
Walk softly and carry a big stick. Prefferably one that shoots big bullets.

I really like the Leupold 1.75-6x32 on the 375 or 9.3x62. To me it's about the perfect match. That said, I've used the 1.5-5x20 a lot and like it too. Having had a 2.5-8x36 on one of my .375 H&H rifles in the past, I'd take a look at the rings/mounts.

Leupold 3-9x in Warne's for my .375 Wby Mag. (My 1.7-5x Leupold in Talley's transferred nicely to .416 Rigby CZ 550 Safari Magnum.)

I put a Burris 2x-7x Mini on my Ruger No.1H and I love the combo. The Burris has all the eye relief you could want on a .375 H&H, it is clear and certainly has enough power; All without a big clumbersome optic sitting on top. Just my opinion but don't overlook the Burris Mini.
