After reading about all these wonderful custom guns for the last year or 2 I finally caved in to temptation and had a Winchester M70 stainless classic rebarreled to 300H&H. It is still wearing the cheap factory stock, but I may address that later.
I got it back from the gunsmith last week, and broke in the barrel over the weekend. I shot a .48" group composed of the last 3 shots of the shoot-1-and-clean sequence (the remainder being used to get the scope sighted in), and a .52" group of the first group of 3. I can see how this could get to be a habit...
:-)

Now anything more than 1/2" groups from other rifles will drive you nuts. Factory rifles will be Ho-Hum now. Been there done that <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Flinch

What was the caliber before the rebarrel? Any modifications needed for the 300 H & H for the magazine or feeding? Gunsmith? Thanks. I am considering a rebarrel on a Win 70.

Sounds great. The .300 H&H is a very good round and it's history shows it to be quite accurate. I love working with the M70's also. I've rebarreled/rechambered a fair number of them for customers and all have resulted in good rifles to hunt with. Glad you're happy with it.
