None of the prior opinions about the 308 mean a damn thing unless accompained by numerous pics of yourselves falling trees. smile

Of course, I'd only get one try at that...

A .270 is simply a 30-06 improved.

The easy way.

...

about half of the over-the-counter loads for the .308 don't even have 1000 ft lbs of energy past 500 yards, and around 1750 fps.

Not even close to being the best sniper round out there.

I like 7mm stw, .300 rum, .300 wby mag, .338 edge, and .30-378 wby mag.

Still trying to buy all of them!

Was looking at a griz skull out in Cody a few weeks back. I don't think I'd go for the temple shot with the .204. Put it straight up the nose and you'll do OK. Just don't miss is all I got to say other than that.

Wait a minute, the title of the thread is "Rifle accuracy." Any rifle in .270 should be more than accurate enough for hunting. If not it needs a visit to a good gunsmith which had better be cheaper than a new rifle.

(From a guy with more rifles than he knows what to do with. Doesn't apply to gun loonys wink )

Don't believe will run into many alaskan bears in MN, unless I go to the zoo, and I don't think they would take to kindly about guns there.

The .308 is very easy to set up to shoot accurately at various ranges. I suppose the same can be done with other rigs but I have seen a .308 in a varmint configuration do some amazing things! i have never seen another rifle shoot like that!
