I sent a Nikon UCC Monarch 3x-9x back for a repair estimate on 6/5. The scope tube was bent, the windage adjustment didn't work, and the magnification ring only operated between 3x and 5x or so. None of this was Nikon's fault, the scope had been damaged.

The original estimate was $167 w/shipping, but while I was vacillating over whether to spring for the repairs and without any prodding from me, Nikon sent me a brand new replacement scope!

George,

That's great! I have the very same scope on my 280 and love it. Haven't had any problems with it but its nice to know that if I did, Nikon's customer service is good to go. Thanks for the info.

Very interesting -- I had precisely the same experience with my rangefinder a couple of months ago. Proposed bill was even the same amount. While I was mentally composing my "no thanks" letter back they sent me a new one.

I appreciate the customer service -- but wouldn't it be easier for them to just replace things for you and get the word of mouth advertising, instead of screwing around going back and forth? Do you suppose they would have sent me a refund if I had dropped a check in the mail instanters?

Sounds like part of the outfit wants to do right, and part of it wants to collect repair fees...

I just recieved a brand new scope from Nikon after sending my 4x40 scope in for repairs,it would not stay zeroed in.I am impressed with their service.
I am glad I purchased a pair of Nikon 8x32 lx binos and know they will stand behind their products.
they are as sharp and clear as my 10x42 el swaros.
