Well Ingwe... Did we cover late June floats down the main Flathead yet??

First you offload boats
[Linked Image]

Then you float and fish...

[Linked Image]

Then you "Pull Out" Pun intended

[Linked Image]

Then you eat a sammich and guzzle beer down at the Old Steel Bridge while you wait for your wife to show up

Then you load the boats onto your wife's truck, and hope maybe they'll breed a Hyde drift boat

Still running really high, but its cleared up a bunch in the last two weeks (two weeks ago, much farther North)

Today it was Beadheads, and Thingamabobbers (best damn strike indicator ever invented) True to lower river fashion, I only hooked up on one fish, and he went straight to the bottom of the river and took all my schitt frown I'm guessing it was 8-10 Lbs, and I was running my 4 weight St-Croix custom today.

I dunno if it was the beer or the 8 mile float, but I still got the Weebs

Welllll, Okie Dokie....that water looks a BUNCH better, and I'll bet you could almost see through the beer, had it been in a bottle. wink
Still waiting down here for the creeks to clear up enough for the fish to see a fly, or my dog to wade across without being swept away. Matter of fact I was going to get out all the tackle this week, sort, put on new line etc.( I fish with hardware too, but just can't bring myself to use garden hackle...)
You been workin' graveyards or what? I see alot of your posts are during insomniac happy hour... tired
Anyway, till I get some pics this season, heres one of me and the dog getting a brown...

And oh, yeah, to stay on topic and keep this thread alive...the 7mm-08 makes a better fish gun laugh

If the water flow goes down a bit, the Trico hatch should start up good about July 7-8!!
MO's gettin' crowded these days though... frown

Back in the day that hatch would hit Ennis just about July 3-4...does it still? Or has the new climate screwed that up too...wondering cause this spring is more like old times...
Did OK on the salmonfly hatch a couple times, but never really "Hit" it. Fished just in front and just in back of it with Elk Hair Caddis, of all things, and did OK....I quit fishing Blue Ribbon waters in the early 90's when they got fully invaded with Mauve and Teal colored vests, and neoprene waders, with matching croakies for your shades....
Fish the creeks now, too far from the roads where the designer Eddie Bauer SUVs park...

We had a nice 90 degree day that started it in bear trap. I would guess it will be in full force in the next few days. I kinda have to laugh a little at the folks on the rivers around here.

Yeah it seems 90 degrees plus is what kicks off the Trico hatch on the MO, and it lasts over a month. Get there on a still, miserable, hot day and you can have a ball from about 10;00am when the spinners hit the water till they are all flushed out by mid-afternoon.
And I guess I'm showing my age by reference to yuppiemobiles, looks like the Subaru Forester is the be all end all in Bozo nowadays...
