$25 for Slick Tricks? Is that for 3 or 6? Muzzy's are around $30 for 6.

The EPEK X-C3 can be placed in practice mode with the change of a set screw that keeps its blades from deploying ( http://www.epekhunting.com/?q=node/1 ).

I would be wary of clicking on that site. When I did a trojan virus was trying to infect my computer. Avast was going off like crazy.

Here's an interesting test of 38 different broadheads: http://www.american-hunter.com/broadheads/broadhead_test.htm

A table at the end of the webpage allows you to select and view the results for the broadhead that you are interested in. The Slick Trick and many other broadheads do get high marks.

I've been using Muzzy 100 3-blade for about 15 years with no reason to change, but last year, the hype got to me and I tried a Rage 2-blade. All I can say is my quiver will be full of them this year. Unbelievable wound size and blood trails from my personal experience.

Another vote for slick tricks. Great penetration on the one elk and a good blood trail.

I agree that the Epek webpage is infected. Here's another webpage that contains a short review of the Epek X-C3:
http://www.huntingnet.com/fieldjournal/fieldjournal_detail.aspx?nID=976
I haven't been able to get my hands on one but I like the idea of using a screwdriver to prevent the mechanical blades from deploying during practice.

I do think that this test and review of 38 broadheads is excellent:

Remfak, this is my first post here, but I've been hunting archery elk for about 10 years. I used to shoot Muzzy 3 blades and killed a few elk with them. I switched to Satellite 2 blades to decrease the planning on the front. Satellite doesn't exist, so am looking for another 2 blade brand. I like the 2 blade because of the cut-on-contact as oppossed to the chisel-point heads and the 2 blades shoot just like my fieldpoints.

Good luck on your Colorado hunt. We've been building points there and hope to have a quality hunt out there some year.

i use either the magnus 2 blade or the zwickey 2 blade. all at 125 grs, and all mounted on woodies (out of a recurve or longbow). i sharpen with a 6" file and finish with a stone. complete penetration on a broadside shot is common. never hunted or killed an elk with a compound, but have taken several with trad bows. i believe magnus offers some of their broadheads with screw-in adapters. don't know about zwickey.

I use to to shoot the 125 gr Thunderheads and 125 Gr Muzzy 3 blades but since decided I wanted to try something different and lighter. So I ordered 3 packs of Grizz Tricks, which are on back order right now and i'm looking forward to shooting them to see how they fly compared to field points.

I have 2 good friends that shoot the Shuttle T 100 gr broadheads and they rave about how much penetration they get with them. At 20 yards they are about 4 inches higher than a field point, shooting a Mathews Drenalin LD, 28 1/2 inch draw and set at 70 lbs. This is my buddy's setup.

If I'm not happy with the Grizz Tricks then I will be switching to the Shuttle T's.

Thanks everybody.

Finally got out last weekend to shoot my new bow. With a few tweaks and a lot of advice from a couple of buddies, I was shooting well from 20-40 yards. What a hoot!!! Looks like we may be able to get onto a large private ranch for my first archery hunt this year. Can't wait!!! Now, just need to practice, practice, practice, than choose a broadhead and see how those fly. Sure looks like the Slick Tricks have a lot of votes.
