Looking for a reasonably accurate 22LR Bolt action that will weigh no more than 6.5lbs with mounts but no scope. I had a Winchester M52 that I really liked but it was too nice, too expensive (for me to knock around) and about 1lb too heavy.
Was considering a Kimber but about made up my mind to go to a Ruger 77/22 as I already have a bunch of mags and I do like having more than 5 rds in a 22.
Prefer to keep the price under $600. Saw a NIB Kimber Hunter for $650 but not sure if I need that much 22. I don't shoot match ammo just junk bulk Fed. The 52 shot it fine, if you discounted an occasional flyer it would put most rounds in 3/4" at 50yds.
Thoughts??
What about Remmy??

I think the CZ 452 22RF will fit your needs. Mine is accurate, and looks good.

Going with a used rifle might fill the bill. I picked this Remington 521t up second hand. Its a tack driver, and a squirrel killer for sure. This was a 30 yard shot using CB longs.

Just picked up a ZC452 American 17" with threaded barrel. It is boring to shoot...if you miss it is your fault... Scope is a 4.5-14 Leupold. Price was $389.00 OTD....
This is the third CZ I have had and all were excellent shooters.

CZ-452 16" is a light handy gun with good accuracy and at a reasonable price. The trigger could be better but this is easily fixed.

The Sako Quad would fit your requirements. Light, great adjustable trigger, and very accurate.

The Sako Quad would fit your requirements. Light, great adjustable trigger, and very accurate. I've never been a big fan of plastic Tikka and Sako rifles, but I recently bought a Quad with a 22 mag and 22 LR barrel for around $625 and have been quite impressed. Only catch with your criteria is that a 10 round mag hangs down and are reltively expensive. I think the plastic quads with one barrel are still available on GB for $425 or so.

Kimber does not make 22's anymore. However, you can find them on Gunbroker, Gunsamerica, rimfirecentral.com, etc. Get one, you will be most happy at the way they shoot, looks, the way they are made, etc. I have the Kimber Hunter. 3/8" groups with SK Standard Plus ammo. $4.30 a box ammo.

I have a Marlin 980S that I'm shooting quite a bit. Unlike many 22 LR rifles, it has a "man-sized" stock, which is a plus for me. Although it isn't Winchester 52 Sporter, it fit me and shoots good groups, plus it is stainless, so I can shoot it during our humid summers and not worry about rust. The only thing that I don't particularly care for is the 7-round magazine that extends below the stock. Marlin is now offering 4-round and 7-round magazines in their 22 MRF and 17 HMR rifles, so they might offer a 4-shot 22 LR magazine at some point in time. Although I don't have 1, the Savage Mark II BV has a good reputation on www.rimfirecentral.com. I do have a Mark II BVSS in 17 HM2 that shoots very good groups. Jeff

If you can score a Rem M541T, it'll do everything you wish and more.. Stoked with Eley ammo, it will win you over in a hurry..

If you already have the mags, why not just go with the 77/22?
That said, I own 2 CZ452s (Ultra Lux and Silhouette)... and I am buying two more (one being CZ452FS) within a month.

skip the ruger m77/22 all together. they ar eto much hit and miss on one that shoots well.there are alot more that don't shoot well than what does. the .22mag and 17hmr m77/22s do seem to shoot better. i would go with a cz for sure. they shoot danged well and are great made rifles. they don't need alot of work to shoot great. most do right out of the box. there is a reason there are so many parts made aftermarket for rugers. you will need them all and then some to get them to hang with good rifles.

What should a guy pay for a decent used Ruger 77/22?
