Friends of my son and in his squadron. He is leaving soon for a tour. Please keep them all in your prayers. It makes me uneasy.

The F-15E crash brings coalition deaths to 50 in July. That includes 26 Americans.

Reporting from Kabul, Afghanistan -- An American fighter jet crashed today in eastern Afghanistan, killing the two-man crew, U.S. military officials said.

The crash of the F-15E came during what has already proved the deadliest month for Western troops in the nearly 8-year-old Afghanistan conflict.

Thoughts and prayers for them specifically and in general for all who place themselves in harm's way for us.

My thoughts and with the crews family and their Squadron.

There will be a lot of people in the USAF holding thier breath about the cause of this..Certain Marks of the Eagle have had severve structural problems and part of the fleet was grounded for a while to allow for checks ect..

Lets hope this was caused by something unrelated, other wise it could indicate the Airforce never got to the bottom of the previous problem...

The F-15Es weren't grounded as far as I know.

Swampman700,

I believe it was the earlier marks that were grounded, but all the Eagles are getting old now, and flying Operations in some where like Afghanistan is likely to show up any underlying problems that may have been missed previously.

I hope this crash turns out explainable and not in any way related to the age of the Eagles concerned nor any prior problems...If nothing else, the guys that fly them need total confidence....

Regards,

Peter
