I'm looking for a backup magazine for my .300 savage, and was wondering if another caliber such .308 will work? Thanks.

Have you checked with Grice gun shop? http://www.gricegunshop.com/shop.phpThey had a run of 7600s in 300 a couple of years ago. I think the mags will interchange.

The 308 magazine works for 6mm rem, 243, 308, 257 Roberts, 7mm08 and 260 rem. Att leas that's what one of mine says. I would bet 300 Savage will work in it too.

Any of the short action mags with the block at the rear should work. i.e. 243,7/08/308,35Rem,etc.

A while back I bought a 760 in .300 Savage that came with a .308 mag. When I emailed the seller to question it it he came back with "it works." I never tried it. I've since been able to come up with 3 correct .300 Savage mags. They're out there, but they can get spendy.
