I was set on buying an Xtrema until I shouldered the new SBE II. Can anyone give me the pro's and con's of both models. What model will be the most trouble free. I have not shot either model as of yet. I do own a Beretta 390 that I love. I am not much of a shotgunner, as I didn't even fire a shotgun last year. Rifles are my passion, but getting back into duck hunting this year.

You cannot go wrong with either of your choices. I have 3 AL 391s and cannot be happier. I have a broken back so I cannot shoot the big 3 1/2 Mags. I don't really need the power that the 3 1/2 mags generate. A good 3" Mag will do just fine for ducks and pheasant. The 391s in 12 Ga feel like shooting a 20ga and you can shoot them almost all day long. If you have been out to a Sporting Clays range the Auto of choice is the Beretta AL391. I saw the new Benelli the other week. I'm not sure I like the rubber pad on the cheek piece, but I once owned a Benelli and I know that they do have some recoil.

SHW,

I'm all for buying lots of guns, but if you're just getting back into duck hunting and unsure of how much you'll be doing, use the darn 390 - a first rate shotgun in it's own right.

Forgive me my nonsense, as I also forgive the nonsense of those that think they talk sense.

The SBE sure feels good in my hands. That will be my next duck gun!

As I always say, "If it feels good, do it".

I went through this dilemma and ended up on a Brownchester X2.

Extrema stock was too thick in the butt stock, Benelli's action is really long.

But go with the one that mounts and swings best for you.

Very true
The reason the Berettas are by far the number one auto choice for clay shooters are two fold first- it's a well built gun, second- low recoil. Due to the Beretta's gas operated system. The Benellis are a well built gun as well but, have a recoil operated system which has more recoil. If you plan on shooting it a lot such as out at the range the Beretta might be a better choice due to lower recoil. Both guns will give you good service in the field.
