No, it is just plain calcium carbonate, you mix it with volume 40 for bleaching skulls.

That sounds cool if that's all that's in it.
It's all new to me but a little Googling reveals that hair bleach powder can contain such nasty stuff as magnesium peroxide, potassium persulfate, and ammonium persulfate in addition to inert ingredients to make a creamy mix. All bad for a nice piece of wood.
I don't know the chemistry beyond the powders being oxidizers but the powder is referred to as an "accelerator" or "activator" which apparently makes the peroxide more effective.
(Are you sure the stuff you have is just calcium carbonate?)

Which explains a lot.

I've tried about everything too. Solvents can make it worse.
What worked best for me was to bury it in a box of flour (didnt have any whiting) and leave it in the greenhouse (hot) all summer. Came out pretty clean.

Update: I have been using my whiting, and it has definitely helped. I have put on three separate coats, and I believe I have gotten out as much oild as I am probably going to get out. Seems like it is all gone from the side of the buttstock, but still dark and streaky around the pistol grip.
I checked whiting at a beauty store, and it did contain a lot of different stuff I hadn't heard of before, so I stuck with my taxidermy whiting.

I have left several stocks in my vehicle all day at work. The "oven" created draws oil out of the stock. Also a heat lamp in a metal trash can also creates a constant modest heat.
