Got my hands a new Tikka stainless 30-06 and I'm undecided about what kind of rings/bases to use. I don't want to use the rings that came with the rifle. I have Opti's on my Sako 85 338federal but I'm thinking about using Warne's on the Tikka. In addition to Weaver or EGW(picatinny), does Warne make a base for the Tikka or should I just use the Warne rings that attach directly to the receiver?
Also, does anyone know of a bore guide for this rifle?

I have Talley's on my T3 Lite 300WM. Love Talley's, and have no issues at all with them on the T3.

I know Talleys are very popular and they look nice too, did you lap them? I never lapped aluminum rings before because I don't own any but I'm not sure if its recommended for aluminum.

personally I like the factory rings and use them when I can, they are light weight and get the job done, I have also found tikkas to not need much bore sighting to be on paper. I had to use talley high rings to get my 42mm AO scope mounted. however warne IMO makes the strongest ring setup out there for the gun, if weight and height is not an issue I would go with them. for some reason I don't think warne makes a base for tikka, however weaver does,

I have five rifles with Talley Low's on top. None have needed to be lapped, including the 300.

Tough to go wrong with Talley's but just to give you another option this is what I put on my T3 Light Stainless .308. http://www.dnzproducts.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=66_40
If there's one thing I've become certain of it's that there's too much certainty in the world.

I and quite a few others use the factory rings, my distant second choice would be LW Talley. Distant because the factory rings work great.

My son has the factory ringmounts on his 300 WSM and it shoots little clover leaf groups every time we take it to the range. Why spend more $?

The original Tikka mounts start out fine but the screws do not seem to hold up if you want to change the scope more than once..so I decided to try them all.
I have Talley's, dnzproduct "deznutz", and both of Warnes standard and QD quick disconnect mounts on top of my Tikka's and found they are all good mounts.
I like the Talleys because they are lighter than the rest and cost less.
Warnes cost a little more are very strong but are much heavier than the others. I have removed the scope on the 06 to work on the gun remounted the quick release and was surprised on how close to zero it remounted (nearly dead on).
DNZPRODUCTS is strong and I feel easier than the others to mount and align your scope level, but cost much more than Talleys...

Jm,
Yes, all of the rings are Talley lightweight Lows. And all carry Leupy 40mm scopes. They certainly are low, but they definitely clear the barrel.
Going Talley's was a personal choice. I did't try the factory rings myself, but have heard plenty of others saying they work just fine.

I've used the factory rings on Tikkas a bunch with zero problems, and I've used the Talley LW's on Tikkas and like them a bunch, too.
I've used the Talleys on a bunch of rifles. I only have them on some Tikkas because they came with stainless rings and I generally like Matte rings with a matte scope on a stainless rifle.

I just replaced the factory screws with good hardened screws from the local hardware store. The factory mounts worked great once you could tighten them properly.
