Some day when I grow up.............. I'll have to keep using my crappy ole St Croix till then At this point, a really good rod would be wasted on my skill level. I have a couple of buddies with Orvis and a couple of Sage's. They feel good but I can't justify the cash - at least until I can truly feel a difference. I'm still on the steep learning curve. But I'm learning.

KK, Nice stick, and excellent choice on the reel as well. And, when you do, you will not regret adding the 5 wt BIIx to the quiver. Not that it's that pertinent to most trout fishing, but I can throw more line with less effort with that rod than any other I've ever cast. The short game with that rod works too.
bwinters...ain't no flies on a St Croix.

Now you guys don't get too uppity about using worms. I've been having a lot of fun teaching my boys (3 & 5)the fine art of soaking worms...I reckon start at the start, right? Only down side is that they're generally goners, swallowing the hook and all. Good thing my fam likes to eat trout The boys are really digging it, and watching them and having all the memories of when I was a kid...well, it don't get much better.

Hope Danny doesn't see that about the .260.... It'll be good for four more pages.... Ingwe Between you and ol'trapper, I somehow think you'd be right But I'm not going to go off about what a truly great caliber the 260 is again. I think I did that back about 60-70 pages ago Besides, why would I want to de-rail a perfectly good fly-fishin' thread Dudes, I had a 3 day weekend, a paycheck, and the kids were off riding horsies in their last o-mok-see before State.... So me and the Missus went fishing and campin'... Which meant, lots of river time until dark, then late night bar-b-q's and beer guzzling Since it was just us'ns, we took the dog along too (this was his first trips floating on a river, he's been on lots of boats on lakes.) The 'Dog Toon' Some scenery... One of the many Cutty Schmorgasboards along the Flathead And one of the huge advantages of 'Toonie boats. You ain't gunna sneak fish that whole riffle on a raft or drift boat It was "Take a retarded Lab/Collie mutt fishing day" Rocky doesn't quite understand the concept of "Catch and Release" Then you catch one and let him sniff it Then you turn it loose right in front of him and say "Where's the fish??" See part two....

I guess we'll just make this a two part post... I can't get all the pics to come up on one post More "Where's the fish???" 'cept this time he saw where it swam off too and followed in the next one I hooked So, eventually I hooked a little Rainbow, and tossed it in the shallows on the rocks. I figured this way the fish had a 50-50 chance. Suprisingly the retard caught it... and man was he proud of hisself Dog for "that was yummy " Yep... That 3 day weekend didn't suck at all... And I came home to MORE french Maids from BMT

I havent tossed too big of stuff with it but it handles a size 6 prince with a size 10 p-tail dropper and a indicator like a dream. Felt a bit over kill for the little guys on the Gallatin but I did get into a pig with a clodhopper that made it worth dragging along. Here ya go Mark (incase you missed it a few pages back)
Dan, one of my dogs at first had a hard time with the concept of catch-n-release, but she got over it... The other one though, is a Border Collie and they tend to be a little "focused"...here seen watching a buddy with a trout... You mighta seen these pics before...in a 330 page thread somewhere.... Your weekend looked good! Mrs. Ingwe and I are headed out in the morning for two days of creek fishing...!!! Ingwe

I knew Dan was doing something better than hanging on the internet. Hey Dan, I've got a mostly lab named Rocky as well. He's not the brightest bulb, but a more lovable dog you'd be hard pressed to find. He doesn't know schit about C&R either, in fact, he prefers to set tooth to them at every opportunity. Funnier than hell watching a dog try to pick up a fish like a bone.....

Yeah, I wish I had video of Dumbasses first. It was a riot He splashed around in the shallows for a good 20-30 seconds before he came up with it. Now if only the wifey had taken a pic of the Rainbow I hooked up on that took me for the old "Nantucket Sleigh-ride..." Here's me and my Toony about to leave dry land though
