OP ROMAC Campfire Tracker Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 3,590 Eastern Pennsylvania	Went to look at a 99 (so it is not totally off topic)and came home with a minty 1964 Marlin 39A Golden. I'll have to admit they are really nice. Other than the fact that the bulls eye shrank and fell out it is flat out minty. Last edited by ROMAC; 08/05/09. crowmagnum Campfire Regular C Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 1,288 upstate new york	I've still got my first gun (a model 39 Marlin Mounty). Paid a dollar a week for it. I was 14 at the time & am 70 now. The gun is like new, but I don't have a box or any paperwork that may have come with it at the time.

They are great little rifles ,case colored receivers tang sights on 3 of them, the only drawback on the early rifles they should not be used with high velocity ammo, the bolt gave problems with it . Only standard velocity ammo should be shot in them. The later 39A rifles have a stronger bolt and have no problems with high velocity ammo. marlin did have a winner with this little lever gun. Now if there was a way to make a 10-shot rotary-magazine rimfire based on the 99....that would have been all kinds of awesome.
