Thanks for the post...

Maybe I can get this neat rifle sold, its the best 9.3x62 I have every owned, but I am culling out my gun cabinet as I suspect most of my Africa hunting is about over. The long trip on the plane is hard on old bones, and I am near burned out on hunting, at least for awhile. Sold my double rifles to buy the granddaughter a horse and plan on keeping my English .375 and a .40 caliber. for DG...

Damned shame, but it'll work out for one of us, for sure.

BigUglyMan,
It's no big deal to me, I been selling all my guns over and over for years, I get real low and go into a panic buying spree! smile smile Basically I'm a gun whore, I like to buy them, play with them and shoot some game with them, then down the road they go except for the family guns..I have done this for years and it has given me a broad experience in the effective of calibers on game..

I bought this 9.3 x 62 from Ray a few years ago. I put it to good use last year.

RAC, that looks like a Husqvarna. I have one that looks just about like yours minus the barrel band sling setup. Mine started as a .270 and I had it rebarreled to 9.3x62 with a Lothar Walther 22 inch barrel and left it in it's original stock. I've got a 4x Leupold on it and splurged on a Dakota 3 pos safety. I've mostly shot 250 gr BT in it but will have to change over to the Accubond when I run out. I want to try the 286 gr Hornadys and see how they work. Tell us how your rifle is set up please.

That rifle is on an old military Mauser action. I don't know much about it. Believe it or not, my front barrel stud came loose about 3 days before I went. It was soldered to the underside of the barrel. What you see on the front is the barrel stud and three plastic cable ties. It has a Leupold 2.5 x 8 on a one piece base. It has a set trigger and the regular trigger. The barrel says K Burgsmuller, Berlin-Charlottenburg. I used 250 grain Swift A-Frames and 250 grain Barnes TSX. It didn't have a serial number on it but I had one put on it for the SAP. I have killed several deer, a kudu, nyala, 2 warthogs, one pig, armadillo, and a wildebeest with it.

RAC,
Are you sure you bought that gun from me, I don't remember that gun which is sure unusual, and I don't recall a 9.3x62 that I owned without iron sights?? I would have automatically installed them you would think? Refresh my memeory..but then I'm old and funny things happen to you when you get long in the tooth! smile smile..It sure appears to be a nice old gun obviously made in germany by the marks described on the barrel, and its a mod. 98 so its has to be a good'un..sorry about the sling swivel but thats an easy fix.

Yep, here is the letter I wrote you that is still in my docs:

Ray Atkinson

Dear Ray,

I have enclosed a check for $XXX including shipping and insurance for the 9,3 x 62 Mauser. Since it will be my wife Sarenas gun please ship it to Clarks in her name. She will fill out the Form 4473. Clarks address is:

Clarks Guns and Personal Safety
5903 E Texas
Bossier City, LA 71111
318-742-7230
318-742-7238 fax

Thank you for answering my questions. I am looking forward to seeing the gun.

Sincerely,

Roger A. Cox

PS Ray.
I don't care that the barrel stud came off and I know it is an easy fix...I carried it to Africa with the cable ties and it worked so that is the way I am going to leave it for posterity. If I sell it I will fix it but otherwise it is going to stay that way.

Sactoller,

Thanks for the photo's, great gun, I own a Husqvarna in 9.3, unfortunately the stock split along the pillar, so I had to replace it, but as it is custom made, I am well pleased with it.
