I wear my good ol' jeans, a brown outdoor jacket I got from Cabelas for $100, and my Tilly hat...and I have no problem getting opportunities on elk and deer.

For bowhunting, yeah, camos make sense.

But I think the current camo fad has far more to do with marketing than actual practicality, IMHO.

An aside...

I just bought a pair of jeans (Dakotas from Mark's Work Warehouse) that are water repellent. Saw that on the label and snagged 'em to try out this hunting season.

My motto, if I can't do it in jeans, it ain't worth doin'!

I consider myself very fortunate to live in a place that requires more than blue jeans to get the job done.....

Yes, the South is loaded with the camo idiots.

They are often astounded that you could possibly kill deer without camo.... or treestands..... or ATV's...... or foodplots..... or....

One aspect of camo I appreciate is that it identifies us as hunters. That said, I rarely wear it in public. Here in Alberta, you'd think we would be close to our hunting heritage and fairly visible. Yet, I rarely see other recognizable hunters at a department store or a gas station. It seems to me Alberta hunters are too discrete in our identity...self-conscious, maybe?. I think it's really easy for us to go unnoticed to the almost 90% of Albertans who are non-hunters. We're a nearly invisible minority. I wonder if we'd be better off if we didn't try to hide in the "other" world so many of us have to live in. Ironic that camo would make us more visible.
