Man of the West,

The only possible comparison of interesting places in Texas with any place in Idaho would be Big Bend and SW Idaho. Even then, Big Bend seems to be lacking some how.

Beyond that, as a Native Idahoan now living in Houston, you have it good in San Antonio. I don't think that anyone would take Houston if we could give it away

If you live in Idaho-- post only about how cold the winters are and how many odd folks live there. There are guns, bears, elk and things which go bump in the night.

If you do not live in Idaho--beware of PBS propaganda and do not visit. Idaho is a dangerous place. I have seen snow in Idaho Falls on the 4th of July and spent a week in the Sawtooths with out seeing another human. Think cold, lonely, and un-civilized and stay away

There is a lady who lives across the street from us who moved down here to Boise, from McCall, about a year ago. She lived there for 25 years, working for the U.S.F.S.

My wife and I were talking to her about how pretty it was around McCall, in the summer. She said, "Yes, and I spent all summer each year, getting ready for winter." Got tired of it and moved to Boise.

Our friends who live in Garden Valley, Idaho, about 40 miles north of Boise, had eleven feet of snow last winter. Had to board up their windows as the snow would slide off the metal roof and pile up against the windows, breaking them in. That is what you call "big time snow blower country." Their two labs got out of the house one day and ran right across the level snow, over their five feet high fence, and out into the countryside for a romp.

I like snow, but not that much.

Hey, but we have 4 seasonsearly winter, winter, late winter and next winter. And, if you are the right cut, you can learn how to manage some of our snow complications after a few years of trials and tribulationsCP.

I think a week without seeing another human would be pretty darn cool.
