My son was asked me what its name was. I thought some kind of skink maybe because his legs seemed really stubby for his size. I told him Scooter since I didn't know what he actually is.

It looks like a skink(sp) They are cool little lizzard snake looking things. Google skink or similar spelling and you should see that little guy.

Looks a lot like what we call a glass snake in these parts.
The glass snake is not a snake at all , it is a legless lizard.

Alligator lizard was my first thought. we got loads of them here. But I never seen one this big and his legs looked really short for his size. Maybe hes just looks different because hes bigger than the ones I usually see.

Na if you googled skank you probably found bill clinton.
If you googled snake you'd find Hillary.
If you googled skink, you might find whats in the picture or Chelsea clinton since she is a cross between a snake and a skank.

I still say it resembles a skink. If you search on MSN and look at the gallery, a few of those skink pictures look similar to what we have here in question.
I msn searched skank and got a bunch of Michelle Obama pop ups!

Alligator lizard. The kid has one in a tank in the other room. Eats bugs, small pinkies, and newly hatched birds. At capture his was about 5 inches, now its about 16 inches. Not very social. They do tend to move quite a bit like a snake.

Wow! 16inches! Most all the ones I see around here are 2 or 3 inches.
The one in the pic is about six. I thought he was big.
