I have a female and a mellow one at that. JRTs and rat terriers are not a good first dog. Due to their personality and popularity JRTs are among the most common dog in dog pounds. They need a firm hand and a household where they cannot assume Alpha status or they most certainly will take the top spot. My dogs sister took over her owner's household and is a holy terror. My dog is a very good alert dog and is good with people when they are in the house, although aloof. I am her man and she follows me around like a shadow. JRTs are smart, tough and pretty much they way they were centuries ago. All this said, if I needed or wanted another JRT these pups look like the real deal.

They are great with other dogs and people. We have a lab and they get along like best buddies. Even let her sleep with her pups. Cats, gophers, squirrels, groundhogs and such wont exist long. Great little dogs in my opinion. Our female doesnt even try to bother the cats. She was raised with them.

The Jack weighs about 14 lbs

Man sure would love have one. I'm having problems finding a home over here in Richland that will take animals. If i do I Will be on my way to pick one up.

You're killing me with these photos.

Lost my 14 yo Lab a year and a half ago. Have been babysitting my sons' dogs for the last year. They went home last month.

House is lonely now.

Wifey is adamant about no new dog, but these photos started melting her a bit.

Maybe if I sent her to Boise to pick it up (we call Boise our hometown, have a house there, etc.) she might cave in.

I'll try that approach tonight.

A couple of my friends have JRT's. Great dogs and they get along with everbody....except the chickens! But that darn dog was so proud of himself.

By the way I've had 3 JRT's and they have been great with all the family and all the grand children as well. JJ (RIP) loved cats as well and thought of them just as another playmate. Socialization is the key.

Say let me push you off the fence JRT's are the greatest.
I've heard all the nightmare stories about JRT's.
I've had 3 now. Two have been out of rescues. I don't regret one of them.

Well for those interested these little dogs are ready for new homes. 2 are gone and 3 are left. The only male with had the black on his head and white body, the black and white female and the brown and white female.
