So, we got this new law passed last month. A hunter can choose 6 hunting weapons for his "arsenal". If he wants a 7th, the police will have to be informed and it will be "very difficult" to obtain, and most likely he would have to sell of one of his previous ones to get the 7th..

So,

what would you choose?

if you still don't think our country doesn't seem like a [bleep] totalitarian commie state enough, keep on voting sv. mad
if i only had a good job offer in the US, i would go there immediately and buy truckloads of guns...

if it only had been 12 guns, i would have been satisfied.

(the forum sencored me, "bleep" doesn't express my frustration enough.

1.Ask the Danes to launch an invasion whistle wink
2.Next election, tell the politicians to throw out the law or get stuffed. There must be enough gunowners to swing this around.

22lr
270win
7mm mashburn mag or 7mm wby mag
375 H&H
12ga O/U
404 Jeffery/ 416Rigby.

Kiplauf (with steel receiver not old coffee pans like Blaser uses) in 7X65R with extra barrels in 22 hornet and 6x52B&S
16ga O/U for upland game would also be sweet.

Well.. after reading some law stuff.. its acctually allowed to own more weapons. You could if you wanted to, own 7 benchrest guns. You would have to participate in -one- event each year to be allowed to continue owning them. But, the law is still unclear if you are allowed to use them to hunt..beacuse when you applied, you stated you would only use it for competition.. then you have CAS, practical shooting, Moose range ( direct translationt there smile ), etc etc..

but still.. they are just making it more and more difficult for us to do what we want.. just ignoring the fact that only the most law abiding citizens are allowed to own them in the first place...

btw, Im NOT woting SV this comming election. Faaar from it!

So, how are guns counted; by receivers or by barrels?

In the U.S.A., guns are counted by the number of receivers and not by the barrels. With an AR-15 lower receiver and receivers for a Blaser, Contender and an Encore, I could be well below the 6 gun limit and still have adequate choices to hunt anything anywhere.

If I really had to limit myself it would be:

22 LR
223 Remington or 22-250 Remington
30/06 Springfield
375 H&H Magum
458 Lott
12 Gauge

a blaser/sauer/tc etc with 100 barrels is still only one gun.
AR is unfortunately not legal for hunting.

So, there is really no problem. I'm limited to how many guns I have by the size of my safe and the tolerance of my wife (she really is a very tolerant sweetheart) so I've gone the Blaser, Encore and Contender route.

Isn't there some other stupid law there that only lets you have one of each brand of rifle, and yet supressers are legal?

Rog: well, it used to be if you had a 308 for hunting, say elk, you could also use it for hunting any from deer to moose. So, if you hade a 308, no need for anything between 6.5x55 ( minimum ) and up to 9.3x62. Again, a 375 was possible because of Africa.

One would have to be creative to get several calibers.. f.ex a flat shooting caliber if you are sitting on post/trestand, low recoil for deer, etc etc..

Now, you decide for yourself how many rifles in 308 you want. A kipplauf, a drilling, heavy varmint rifle, moose rifle etc.

Yes, suppressors are legal. Since all it does is saving your hearing, its a social good.

well..if I would have to choose. And Im a avid reader and dreamer of many forums, I would choose something like this.

22lr (just something fun to do on a rainy sunday)
6mmBR (benchrest rifle for hunting varmints and targets)
308 (heavy precision rifle)
7x57R (Blaser K-95, add a 222 barrel)
9.3x74r (Merkel 140 for africa and wild boar)
338LM (308 muzzle energy at 600 yards...need I say more?)

buuut, Im sure this will change in a couple of days or so smile

Nortman; Tell them for me that I say it's none of their bleeping business how many rifles you own. Thank you.

I saw a movie where only the military and the police had guns. It was called Schindler's List.

How would they know if you owned more than six? What is the punishment?

I know I wouldn't turn over any of my guns, just wondering if they are going to raid homes, etc.
