The most severe is loosing all your guns, and your rights to own any for x amount of years.
They police can to do a "house check".. but we have the right to know 48 hours before they arrive.

Can your wife also have 6 guns? Pistols? Even the lower quality things I have have a use. This is similar to the "one gun" threads. From a practical standpoint I would do best with;
..30-30 over 20 ga. .22 pistol 12 ga. .243 30-06 45-70
There are others I would like to have; I usually carry at least one extra cased away when hunting in case of breaking the primary hunting gun.

How would they know if you owned more than six? What is the punishment?
I know I wouldn't turn over any of my guns, just wondering if they are going to raid homes, etc. Because I believe they are all registered. Just like they want it done here.

If I had to pick 6 for hunting:
22 bolt, probably a CZ452 American 223 Mini 14 target 30-06 bolt, lightweight Mauser sporter 458 Because if it's too big for a 30-06, it's time for a 458. 12 pump 20" barrel for turkeys, 28" barrel for waterfowl. Lightweight 12 O/U for upland

So, we got this new law passed last month. A hunter can choose 6 hunting weapons for his "arsenal". If he wants a 7th, the police will have to be informed and it will be "very difficult" to obtain, and most likely he would have to sell of one of his previous ones to get the 7th.. So, what would you choose? What would I choose? I would choose a different goverment and tell the current one to "stuff it" dave
Only accurate rifles are interesting.

So,
what would you choose? Remington 541 or 581- .22 LR Winchester Model 70 featherweight- 25-06 Winchester Model 70- .35 Whelen Browning Superposed- 20 gauge Winchester Super-X Model 2- 12 gauge and a compact lever rifle of some sort.....

No doubt 7 rifles at an open window in the Texas Book Depositary would be a greater risk than 6. TIC

Norway - the land of my ancestors - is a beautiful country with a wonderful society. I admit to thinking such laws are wrong-headed, but I also must admit that I could hunt the rest of my life happily, anywhere, with the following six.
20 guage 12 guage 17HMR. 22 CHeetah 7mm-08 375 H&H

Yes, wife and children ( 14 or older ) can own guns if they pass the mandatory 30 hour hunters course. 50 questions, 40 has to be correct. 9 weeks long.
Pistol or revolver: you have to be a member of a pistol club for 6 months before beeing approved by the police to own. The old "law" stated if you attend the shooting range 4 times a year, you are allowed to own 3 revolvers/pistol. If you compete in an event atleat 4 times you are allowed to own one gun for each event. More then 10 events, you are allowed to own a back-up for each of the guns. Im not sure what the rules are now under the new one.

To the uninformed/ignorant 6 rifles makes perfect sense ! Following the same logic I think golfers should be restricted to 3 clubs.....one for putting one for medium shots and a big muther for the long shots ! Who needs a dozen or more golf clubs ? Crikey imagine if they fall into the wrong hands !!!
Sunny Australia ....but currently stuck in Spain..

The new law sounds very, very similar to the Swedish law that has lead to all those Swedish guns showing up in the US in recent years.

I hate to break this news,
But Obama just signed into law the same thing here.
I have been waiting on this and have an excellent hiding place, so send me all your rifles and shotguns and I will hide them for you.....

what possible rationale for the limit of six could they have? I mean....why "six"? Unless you're one of those Indian six armed god-type things.....two is about all one can shoot at the same time. Once you're over two, what difference does it make?
Was that just a compromise, or was there some reason given for half a dozen as the magic number?

I bet at least a couple of Scandinavian companies made a pile of money on the 6 gun gun safes that are required as part of the Swedish law. Since they are already tooled up, there was probably a lobbying effort to make the law "consistent" with Sweden's. OP, is the safe requirement part of the new law in Norway?

22 LR 12 gauge 223 30-06 375 Rg or HH
That would prepare you for anything. On the other hand, if swapping and trading guns was still easy enough to do, I wouldn't have a specialized 375 until I needed it, thus leaving me two slots to goof around with as often as I could afford it.
One of those slots would have a semi-auto, the other a lever action, much of the time anyway.
