I just received this one last week from Chic Worthing. It's a beautiful Mexican M98 mauser in 7X57. Mark Stratton did the metal work which includes a nice 1/2 round 1/2 octagon Shilen barrel chambered in 7X57. He also did a surface grind on the action, made a really nice set of custom bases, installed a 3-position safety with a 1936 cocking piece, installed a different trigger and matted a Blackburn triggerguard. The stock blank came from Dressels and is one of the most beautiful pieces of English walnut I've ever seen. It was all sent to Chic Worthing and had this beautiful stock built for it. Mike McCabe and James Anderson also helped with the project. I'm very happy with the results. Terry,
That rifle is spectacular. In particular I like the conservative checking pattern eschewing the fleur-de-lis.
The perfect, to my eye, amount of 'round' over the chamber is better than the octagon barreled rifle that I aquired.
Great art, congratulations.

That is one of the most beautiful rifles I've seen. Gorgeous wood, conservative design, everyhting flowing together as it should. And, of course, a very classic chambering. Congratulations!

Nah, it'll have blood on it before the end of the year. One of the beautiful things about a wood stock is it can be refinished and the dents steamed out. Terry

Terry,
When I saw the bits and pieces, I knew the rifle would be spectacular. Seeing it all together and finished up really confirms that initial assessment. It's magnificent. It must be custom rifle week as you, Forrest and I all received finished jobs. Amazing. Chic and Mark did a tremendous job.

Terry, outstanding job by all involved. The wood is breathtaking. Could be some of the last work by Mark as I heard he was closing his shop.

Terry,
Who did the rust blue? Fantastic job! I think this might be your new "lucky" rifle.

I hate ya', Terry ya' bastid! Absolutely green with envy here! That is gun porn of the highest calibre (sorry about the pun). Not only is that stock pretty, the grain flow is perfect! Go ahead and take that sucker hunting -- unless a horse rolls on it, it will be fine! John

That project sets the bar pretty high, in all respects. Extremely well executed.

what I like best about it is the furniture and the quality of the entire job. One doesn't see a whole lot of rifles that get the nice metal buttplate treatment with the matching grip cap along with the raised swivel studs and of course I am very fond of the Blackburn bottom metal.
Just beautiful!!!!
