Yep.. you'll get more complete answers in the Savage Collectors forum.

In short, though.. no idea how many 284's were made. They were made in the 99F, 99DL and 99C models, and for at least 7 or 8 years. Not ultra rare, but uncommon and extremely popular.

Oh yeah.. also made in the DE and PE models, I do believe.

The aluminum rotors started in the early 60's, and probably continued through the 70's and 80's. So your desirable pre-1960 Savage 99's won't have them, but most of the post-1960 rifles will.

I believe that all the 284s were made with Aluminum rotors and the 99F is the rarest of the lot, except for a few that were made with 26 inch barrels (I belive these few long tubed guns were 99DLs?)

A 99F and so marked with under lever safety in .284 and in excellent shape is worth about $2500. or even more if you find the right collector..this is a premier collectors item and very desirable..A few of them even had brass rotors I am told.

In the other model 99s in .284 they bring from $1200 on up, depending on condition, with the C and E models being the exception, they were a clip model and a cheaper version of 99 and they bring about $500 to $700 in excellent condition.
