Acquired a nice used Ultra Lux recently. I have only had a chance to give it a brief work out by shooting it offhand with Wolf MT at a few little chicken silhouettes (1.5" X 2.5") that were left standing at 90 yards from a just completed local silhouette match. I slid the tangent sight to 100 yards and took a six o'clock hold on the little steel birds and managed to hit about one out of every five shot magazine full. I was tickled to even hit anything that small with open sights at 90 yards offhanded. I think this "long rifle" is going to be a keeper. 28.5" barrel.

My 452 Ultra Lux was part of my first rifle purchase (also got a 452 Silhouette and a T/C R-55 Benchmark at the same time). My new 452FS actually beats it in accuracy, and the scoped Silhouette is in a whole different league, but in my opinion, the Ultra Lux is probably the most comfortable and fun out of the 452's to shoot.

Mine also has a more interesting stock than my quite ugly 452FS (I'd send the FS back if it wasn't the most accurate .22 I've shot to date - it's really that good).

Just be careful with it, as the long barrel tends to want to smack into things. Enjoy it and be safe.

I think that Ultra Lux is the best looking rifle in the 452 lineup! I bet it's pretty quite with that long barrel too. Congrats on your rifle.

Looking Good SheffieldShooter! CZs are just so photogenic.

Just can't get used to that misshapen stock--I'll take a Varmint or an American any day--but that's just my preference. CZs are great shooters!!!! And, a great value.

The Ultra Lux is actually my 6th CZ .22 LR. I have two Americans. I use one with a three pound trigger (as per rules) for shooting CMP Sporter matches in T Class:


I have another American with a Brookes kit trigger (about a 1 pound pull)that I shoot in our local Raptor Match. 90 yards, bi-pods, start standing and go to prone and engage five little chickens at 90 yards with 10 rounds max in one minute, reload and repeat twice more:

I picked up a CZ 513 Basic a few years ago just to see how CZ's low end budget priced rifle shoots (it does - 50 yard groups attached). Great for plinking and letting the nephews and friends' children learn to shoot with:

I mounted my BSA 36X44 scope on the Ultra Lux in Warne rings last night. I managed to get over to the range during my lunch break today and shot a few groups. SK Std Plus, Fiocchi SM 320, and Eley Biathlon EPS. The SK and Fiocchi just stayed under an inch. But, the rifle seemed to show promise with the Eley:

Some fine shooting there guys, but can any of you hit a squirrel peeking around a tree trunk at 50 yards?

I have not actively hunted in years but I did quite a bit of deer, dove, and squirrel hunting in my teens, twenties, and thirties. My favorite squirrel rifle was a Marlin 783 .22 Magnum because it shot so much flatter than a .22 LR. I had it sighted dead on 25 yards and that made it a little high at 50 yards and little low at 80. My two best squirrel head shots were at 50 and 80 yards. The 50 was in the fork of a big oak near Waterloo Alabama (offhand) and the 80 was as you described a squirrel peeking around a tree near Cloverdale Alabama (I used the sitting position with elbows on my knees and aimed about an inch high).

I pretty much am just a range shooter now. I run a different .22 match every Saturday of the month. This little local match we shot in Sheffield today is a great warm up for the squirrel hunters in our club (50 yards and 25 shots):

Great looking / shooting rimfire rifle you gopt there. I just picked up a Training rifle for CMP shooting (my first CZ).

My first CZ was a Trainer purchased new in 2000. It is one of my favorites.

I gave the scoped Ultra Lux another workout.

Very windy today at the range but I tried to watch the flags and shoot some more groups in between gusts.



Seems to want to put three touching and then two out but I am sure pilot error has some to do with this especially with the factory trigger:

Sheffield, Are your matches open to the public on weekends? I am new to the shoals, and would like to get into rimfire competition a bit.

Our next door neighbor is Tennessee Valley Recycling in the Sheffield Industrial Park - you know, they have that 28 foot cruiser sittin on the road named the "USS Recycling".

It was really nice over at the range this morning. No wind. Great conditions for a run at the USBR target (acid test). Wish I could do-over those two sevens.

I have a Super BRNO 2500 that I have yet to put a round through.

My full stock CZ is my most accurate 22 as well and have one of each of then. I'd go so far to say that at 25 yards it may be more accurate than a couple of my 17HMR's. My Cooper MachII is a one holer at 25 meters, G
