I moved this from Free Classifieds !! confused

Measurements being used are from Brownell's catalog..
OK, I worked it out but have a question..
Measurement "B" states it is "the distance from the top of the barrel to the top of the rear sight."
I think it should read "distance from the top of the barrel to the top of the rear sight notch ( V or U cutout you sight the front sight in).
You don't sight off the top of the rear sight, you center and level the front sight in the notch.
If you use the "B" height from the top of the rear sight measure, you end up with a pretty tall front sight. ???

Let us know how it works out for you, after you buy the front sight and install it.

Unless you are using a peep sight, you measure to the top of the sights. With the rear sight sitting in the middle of it's highest and lowest elevation settings, the top of the front sight and the top of the rear sight should be exactly the same height from the center of the bore.

Yes, that is what the instructions say. But lets do a - for example :
1. Lets say you have a Full Buckhorn rear sight that measures 1/2" from the top of the barrel to the top of the sight, but it measures 1/4" from the top of the barrel to the top of the notch portion you do your sighting from.
2. you have a flat top rear sight that measures say, 1/4" from the top of the barrel to the top of the sight. But it too measures 1/4" from the top of the barrel to the top of the notch portion.
You would end up with a much taller front sight in example #1
when in fact you have the same sighting plane in both examples ???. Eh What !!! whistle

The middle of a buckhorn sight is flat. That's where you measure, to the top of the notch.

That is the point I'm trying to get across !!. If you measure to the top of the sight as per instructions, your front sight would be very tall !!

I would think most people who have any experience shooting open sights would understand it. But to be sure, you might want to write Brownell's and mention it to them.
