The scope has to go back to the gunsmith tommorrow so I wanted to get alittle something done with the rifle as he was nice enough to let me borrow it.Nice scope by the way.Bell clear and you can dial every oz. of parrallax right out.
If I had to test rifles for a living Ballistic tips are what I would start with.Might not use them for hunting but I've always found that if your rifle will shoot a BT well. You have a "good" gun.
I ran a Redding 7mm STW S bushing die with a .302 diameter bushing for resizing some of the cases I broke the barrel with and I had Randy my gunsmith take a Redding 270 WCF BR seater die and open the sleeve up to fit the 270 STW for bullet seating.Runout on the rounds I reloaded was less than .0035 out on the tip of the bullet.
Dug into my stash and found some 130g Nosler Ballistic tips. And some Rel 25.Ran two loads 80g and 81g of Rel 25 with a CCI 250 mag primer. No pressure sign at all on either load. And the 80g load seemed the best printing at about .76 for 3.The 81g load opened up to about 1.1
Most likley wont spend alot more time with the 130g BT as I want to run mono bullets.Thinking Ill end up with Rel 22 and a lighter bullet. But time will tell.Next trip the Model 33 is going along so I have an idea of how fast im actually pushing.
Now I need to pick up some kind of scope for it to.
