I was at the range today and got to shoot a .223 with the Bushnell 3200 10x40 Mil Dot. I was impressed at how clear and sharp it was. Parallax seemed to be set somewhere closer to 200 yards than 100, but that is fine. For $219.00, I thought it would be a dandy scope for any open space hunting rifle that you have to carry, whether for coyotes, deer or antelope.

Anyone using one?

I have one for my Marlin, with duplex.

Unfortunately, tad bit of a problem with it...which I've never had before with any Bushnell Elites. Bought it ever so slightly used.

For every two shots at 100 yds where it was supposed to hit, it was throwing 2 or 3 about 4" tot 5" left and high, no matter whose doing the shooting. Think something's broken inside.

Think this is why it ended up being traded back in, and on the shelf for sale in "mint" condition...indeed, not a mark of any kind on the scope.

I've sent it in to Bushnell's repair depot, and waiting to hear back.

That said, first problem I've had with Elite 3200s, owned 5 of 'em I think. And I think once sorted out, this one will be a great little scope, too. As you say, really nice and clear. Nice fit on the Marlin, too, Leupold single piece base and Burris Signature medium rings.

Lee, I have been on a buying spree for the last 8 months or so on Bushnell scopes. I have purchased 6 so far and the latest were both Tactical scopes in the 5 x 15 power with mil-dot and turrets.

Fact is those Bushnell 3200 series Elite scopes, are just as good as their Leupold counterparts and you save a bunch of money with the Bushnell brand.

Oh yeah! I also putt a new 3200 Bushnell on one of my lever guns too. It is a 3 x 9 power.

The Tasco Titan 1.25-4x in 30mm tube is perfect on one of my Model 70s.

I was thinking this 10x40 is perfect for something like a T3 .223 or .243, or .270 walk-around mule deer / pronghorn / coyote rifle.
It was right on the AR-15 where I tried it.

I owned 2-3 of the 10x40s. Liked them alright but for my eyes, I really was wanting for an AO of some type on that scope.

Normally up to 10x I am ok w/o a PA, but 12x and up, demand them.

It worked fine for what I did with it, but feel a side focus would be a worthy addition if possibly, and the price could be bumped appropriately. Then it would be a really nice scope. Other than that, the knobs could be lower profile for a field gun. Can't complain for the money, they are a bargain for what you get IMO.

I have had in the Elite, 2-7, 1.5-6 (nice but heavy), 3-9s (3200), 4-16x40 AO, and the 6-24x40, AO in the 4000 B&L, the 4200 B&L, and the 4200 Bushnell - same scope. Latest model I owned was a 4200 Side Focus 6-24x40, compact enough for hunting, Great light transmission, head shot a doe in the woods at 40 yds 2 years back with my 6BR, reticle bold. Power ring fast to use, used 6x on that shot, as well as a yote trotting and fox running at 60 and 100 yds respectively.

I might add, the smallest 330 yd group I ever shot at the range, was with a 4-16x40 AO, on the Ruger #1 custom I had in 6BR. It Miked under half inch for 3 shots. Resolution = OUTSTANDING. I miss that scope, it was a tad long, but so what. There is a newer Side Focus 4-16, but the wt. is the same or more on spec than the 6-24 in like scope, makes NO sense to me.

My furthest deer kill was at 400 yds, with a 6BR, with the 4200 Bushnell and the mil dot as in my later side focused model is not only bold in low light, but the dots gave me a fast reference having recently been plinking the gong at 415 yds at the range. I center punched both lungs.

Eye relief on Bushnell's is typically shorter than say Leupold, but usually worked fine.

Scott, the one scope to the exception on eye relief is a scope I see used little, perhaps a sleeper.

The 3-10x40 COMPACT. Ultra short, but BIG on performance. Eye relief from memory is 3.3" on the full size 3200s. This new compact is 3.7" IIRC, and great. Sure wish Bushnell did the #4 style reticle in that model like the Burris, it would be a dandy on a short action rifle.

FWIW, the price on that compact is also......compact.

As with any fixed power scope you get more for the money than a variable and lots less to go wrong. It's an excellent value for what it costs.
