Anyone know where a fellow can get a butt stock for a 336. It is what I call the straight stock and not a pistol grip but if a pistol grip is all I can find and it will fit I will go for it.

Marlin inlets each stock to a particular rifle, and switching in a stock from a different 336 may entail some refitting for a correct fit - or it may just drop right in.
That said, the inletting is the same on both straight-grip and PG stocks - so a PG can simply be rasped off & the stock refinished to fit a straight tanged 336.
IIRC, Cabela's sells replacement walnut 336 stocks for $69. - if there's no take off stocks on sleaze bay or one of the gun auction sites.
.
It ain't no fun, when the rabbit's got the gun

may want to try "Midway USA" or Boyd's
