I bought my son a XS7 (same rifle, short action, his is a 7mm-08)
My first impression was, for $290, it seemed like a hell of a rifle. Took it to the range, sighted it in, and shot a 1.25 inch 5 shot group with Remington reduced recoil loads.
I think that is AMAZING for factory, reduced recoil fodder (and Remington at that, not a big fan of their ammo).
The action is smooth, fit and finish acceptable and better than a Stevens 200 (or any other $300 rifle, for that matter...)
I picked some some powder and brass and have no doubts that I can get it dialed in to .75 inch groups.
If you're looking for a decent rifle on the cheap, I'd recommend it...
