Just picked up a new 870 Express 20ga from a local shop..new in the box. Upon getting it home and going over it I was amazed at just how nasty it was,bore was filthy..and inside the reciever was a mess as well...Is this common for them to be so dirty?

Not in my experience.
Are you sure they didn't take it back as a return from somebody who claimed they had some sort of "problem" with it (after using for a weekend of dove shooting...)?

I have seen them put a lot of rust preventer on them and when you wipe it off, it is a brown rusty color.
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

After I clean that stuff off, I put a coat of RIG on the gun.
I use RIG on all my guns and have never had a problem with rust.
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....
