Just picked up my first 458 Lott this past weekend and just got around to posting pictures....

All the work was done by American Hunting Rifles, Inc. - Gunsmith Ed Plummer in Hamilton, Montana back in 2004

I am really impressed with the rifle so far (even though I have not made it to the range yet). The gun started out with with a 3 digit CZ 550 mag auction then:

New piece of English Walnut with 22 LPI checking
the action was blue printed, trued and lapped
installed a recoil lug on the barrel
replaced the trigger with a single set at 3.5 lbs
gun-Kote finish
removalable X brake installed
23" barrel moly-chrome barrel
barrel band installed
Rear sight is a one fixed, one folding blade with a shallow V-notch
front sight is a banded ramp with fiber optic bead and hood
3 position winchester style safety added
glass bedded
2 cross bolts installed
bolt straightened
mercury recoil reducers installed in the stock
metal grip cap
1" decelerator pad installed

Sorry but I am not a Photographer.....

All in all for do some trading of a Pre 64 model 70 and some cash I have less than $200 in the gun... Needless to say I did really well.... smile

Now to go shot it... I already have a 458WM... It will be interesting to see how this one compares...

That's Purty! I wish I had a use for such a cannon. I would find a pre 64 Win to trade you....... Sounds like an awful lot of work for the price.

From what I have heard over the years, AHR does 1st class work! You've got a keeper there. Enjoy!

Wow! What a great looking rifle. Bet it shoots as good as it looks (or better).

Looks similar to the one AHR built me a few years ago. You'll be surprised how well it shoots. Ed and Wayne build excellent rifles.

A nice rifle with a stock that is properly laid out for the kind of recoil generated by the .458 Lott, something that is much overlooked these days where "marble cake" is all the rage, and that is a big time mistake on the big bores and even in the smaller bores as far as I'm concerned. Quarter sawn straight grained wood is what a rifle should have and this gun is correct IMO....some fiddle or pretty grain flow in the butt is acceptable if it flows right to the grip and forearm, even at that I am anal for grain that starts at the toe goes up through the grip and flow down the forend with a slightly upward behavior..then you have the stability of a composit stock but with the beauty and warmth of wood, Gods gift to the hunters and shooters of this world..
