That 204 ruger/ Savage Varmint rifle really was an attractive dood dad. I can see where a fellow could fall in love with that new trigger too.

I can't remember where I read the article but it was by Boddington about Lazzeroni/savage rifles he had shot. He said his personal best group ever was with one of those savages.

What where who how did that Lazzeroni combo with savage come about? Anybody know?

My wife took one to Gunsite in April. It's only been floated and cut to fit her. During the 10+ years I've shot it, one case separated, and a friend blew a primer when he borrowed it. (trying to get too much oomph from the little 308. Despite a hard life, she never missed at the 400 yard line, and this with a 1.5-5 x 20 Leopold scope. They SHOOT! BTW, she'd only fired a rifle two or three times prior to the class.

I have a 110 in .308, made before they came out with the short actions and long before Accutrigger, one of their so-called tactical models with 24" heavy barrel and composite stock. It shoots honest 1" groups with 180gr Partitions and Varget, which is the only load I have yet worked up for it (this one works so well, I haven't taken the time to work on another). The long heavy barrel makes it a bit unwieldy, as is to be expected, and the stock is not a bit stiff, I think it would flex too much to use with a bipod; but those are the only negative things about it. A friend has one with the laminated stock and fluted heavy barrel in .300 Win Mag which cures the stiffness problem but is even heavier. If I had it to do over I'd probably buy the laminate also. And yes it is a bit on the homely side, but like Mom always said: "Pretty is as pretty does."

I have a few Savages , one in a C.I.L. configuration (950T),

and a prototype BT112.

Both shoot like the devil.

The 950T is a 308 and has a slow twist for the 155 Sierra Palma, and the BT112 has a 9" twist designed for the 69 grain Sierra

Matchking. The 308 is going into a wildcat one of these days(6.5WSSM?) .

The floating bolt head and the barrel nut are two features of the design that make this rifle inexpensive and super accurate.

Savages are super shooters as a rule, inexpensive, and yes some say they are ugly.

I personally think that anything that doesn't load singlely form the rear (read falling block, crack barrel , Martini) is on the back side of ugly, but heck, that's just me !
