Was at the local Scheel's last night and they had some of this stuff for $18 for a box of 50. Holy smokes! Is this stuff really that good?

No.
It's not even worth half that, frankly..
You'd be WAY better off to try some lower end SK brand or RWS Match ,Eley Target etc..

$18 is steep!
I remember buying it, years ago, for $6 a box and the Ultra Match was $11 a box. The Remington Eley yellow box stuff shot better in my rifles, and it only cost $4 a box, at that time. I have no idea what that stuff sells for now.

Wolf Match Extra shoots just fine. I believe the SK is made by the same plant as Wolf's match ammo. They both shoot very well in my Kimber 82G. I go so far as to sort the ammo by weight. The Wolf or SK cost about half of that. The Ficchi Super Match also shoots well in my rifle at less than half that cost.

I no longer shoot the Federals,it's not the same as the old load.I had misfires? this summer at the local club matches that I never had before. I switched to Wolf and Remington sub-sonics and we're all happy again....

I have not shot the new federal. If you want to shoot really high end stuff try Lapua Midas M or Midas L or the Ely EPS. For about $9 or $10 you can get Remington Ely EPS which shoots nice. Wolf Match Target is also good. Ernie

I'm still shooting from a horde of Gold Ultra Match I bought 10+ years ago. I stumbled onto a seriously good deal for a wonderfuly accurate lot of the stuff. It shoots far better than any Ely or RWS high end stuff I ever tried. All of the permutations of Wolf that I have tried in my match rifles shot about like K-Mart quality Remchester HV- not bad, but not super great. Probably just my guns/luck for I've heard glowing reports from other guys. I will cry when my last three bricks of the Ultra are gone!
