I found a NIB MKII Model 77 Ruger in 350 Remington for $400. 22 inch barrel. Was looking for a North Woods whitetail rifle and South Texas pig gun. What say you on this choice? Was going to mount a Weaver K3 on it>

Jump on it! That's a sweet deal. Run some 200 TSX with TAC behind it and go!

That was a really good deal and should do a great job on what you intend to use it for. Should be a lot of DRT animals with that rifle.

I'm kinda partial to mine. Not bad for my first range session to work up loads, and a heavy factory trigger. Also it's topped with a leupy compact 2.5x. Rem hull, 225 sierra, Fed 210, 59gr Varget.

A friend of mine has two Ruger 77s in 350RM, one is a NIB flat bolt and the other is the MKII that he bought about two years ago. He has owned two Remington 600s and tells me that the Ruger handles better.

Brilliant rifles ... tune the trigger and feeding as they're known sore points. I think it was a 2006 listed rifle for Ruger ... they announced it and sat on it for a year or two before it appeared. I have one and will not part with it ... but may end up using the action for a short 45cal thumper. Cheers... Con

That's a great price for a great rifle. I have the same model and caliber and it's not real fussy about what it shoots well. I'd jump on that deal like a fly on stink.

You haven't bought it yet? Don't be surprised if it's gone when you go back.

If you don't love the Ruger/350mag, you will be the exception. Some are very good paper punchers, ALL are Great hunters! Don't be put off if the action is rough right out of the box. They all are, but they smooth out fine with some use. Once broken in, they are a thing of beauty. Tough as nails and deadly in the woods. What more can a hunter ask for. Buy it!

A friend of mine bought a new one in stainless steel. It does not feed worth a hoot, even after two trips back on warranty. The bolt has to be rammed home hard. Jams every time if fed slowly.
Any of you guys have any issues in this regard?

I will have to check, but think it is factory stuff.

I bought my Ruger 350 Mag (a special order by Wally World) around May 2005. The reason I remember the year clearly is was a few months before Katrina hit. I of course evacuated with my rifle. Anyway, when I first started to shoot the rifle, I was not into reloading so I used factory ammo. Talk about rough feeding. Initially, I literally could not feed a round unless I jammed the bolt closed. It seems to have been hanging up on the feed ramp. After about 75-100 rounds later (most being reloads) the problem went away. I did notice that the more I shot it, the easier it became to feed rounds. I didn't polish the feed ramp or do anything but simply fire the rifle over a period of time. So, I agree with the previous poster who stated that the Ruger is rough out of the box but fairly quickly smooths itself out. BTW my Ruger 350 Mag is also a stainless steel model.

I will pass this on to those that are having trouble with feeding. The rem350 is a short fat round and like many short mags sometimes is a finicky eater. This information was given to me on this very site by a very kind fellow who knew the cure.
If you feel up to taking the stock off your rifle you can pretty much do this yourself with (horrors...) a pair of pliers. If your rifle is shooting 1/2 MOA you may want to put this off and just let the rifle break in with use.
Remove the stock from the gun and then remove the magazine liner. On inspection you will see there are bend lines at the top which fold slight to the center on an angle. This forces the new round toward the center as it is pushed forward so it doesn't hang on the feed rail. This is a machine made part and suffers from wear in the machine that makes it I'm sure.
Using pliers gently try bending the top along the bend line slighty... SLIGHTY!!! on both sides at the bend line. This is a tuning adjustment so you have to fit and try it perhaps 2 or 3 times to get it to work properly.
I had the same problem and my rifle feeds slick as snot now.
As always use internet instructions at your own risk! Or not at all!
Happy shooting.
