I've posted a complete hunt report on the AR Forums. In trying to replicate it here, I've run into problems with only half the pictures displaying and cannot spend any more time debugging the problem.

If interested, the AR posting is here: A Difficult Hunt in Chewore South

What are the little short gators on your bare legs and short boots for? I have never seen those before.

They are just that - short canvas or sometimes leather gaiters. They are sometimes called sock covers in Africa. Their primary purpose is to keep grass seeds, many of which are sharp and will work their way into the skin, and gravel out of your socks and boots.

Boyt and Texas Hunt Co make canvas ones here in the US and Long Grass Safari sells canvas and leather models.

Ferret,

We're close to you at Ft Meade living between Odenton and Annapolis. We even use the Comm and PX there.

ODay,
Great report and nice buff. I'm glad you were finally able to close the deal. I'm sure all those days hunting were really enjoyable. I certainly understand what you mean about the heat since I spent my buff hunt in Zim at the same time and endured similar temperatures. It is brutal and the dehydration can be a killer. Congratulations!

Glad to any time ... just send a PM and we can arrange to meet somewhere for coffee or a cold adult beverage. I check this site 2 - 4 times a week.

I've started planning for another trip in 2011 and might have ideas for places to look.
