California has 6.43 million uninsured as of 2009. There is no conceivable way that we can have a state program like Mass. Mass had a very low number of uninsured to finance. Since California is the most mismanaged large state in the union there is no hope of self correcting the issue. We have 23 consecutive years of failure to manage the budget in a timely fashion. If there is health care reform in this state it will have to be a federal law. The advantage is that we Californians can lay off the massive cost of our mismanagement on the generous taxpayers in other states. This may be one of the reasons Pelosi is fighting so hard. I suspect that this Federal program is going to be a huge. boondoggle. Personally, I have lifetime full coverage,so I don't gain or lose.

National heath care in Canada is now at 172 billion dollars per year or $5180 per person. Wait times are extreme, with 100's dieing before getting the necessary treatments in a rapid fashion. We have a very [bleep] system and they say we need to throw more money at it to improve things. WTF. Imagine your country with 10 times the people. Maybe 10 times the cost and they say that medical procedures in the states cost much more . People are going to different countries to get life saving operations because they don't want to die waiting in the long lineups. This will ruin the present government in the USA. Obama's white elephant.

So how do they propose to pay for the Baucus Bill, which doesn't even include the "public option"?
* 18% payroll tax
* fines on healthy young people who refuse to buy insurance.
* force businesses to pay for 65% of the family members cost
* $500 billion reduction in Medicare by denying treatments without social returns.
* $4,000 increase in insurance premiums per family.

My point was not that I think the health care bill is a great idea but that all other states would have to pay for the incredible mis-management of states like California. I understand that it will cost a fortune but a federal program will be cheaper for Californians because the rest of the states have to pick up our tab. Almost everyone underestimates the total cost of insuring the whole population and having open borders.
