Just wanted to let some of You West Texas Mule deer Hunters know , A young man killed a 29" wide Desert Mule deer this past weekend in Hartley Co. and shot it with a 284., really a great looking Head.
The deer was a 10 pt. (Texas Standards)or 5X5 ,horns very nice and even , rough score was around 197-198. I did not see the body but He said the deer weighed around 300 lbs.
This was this Young Mans FIRST deer , and what a way to start. Navarro

must be nice...guess that kid is hooked......I read an article yesterday....apparantly some clown shot a buck in Arizona with a 34" spread.....gutted it and then left it to rot.....hope they catch this guy....
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy...

I aint too familiar with mule deer but they sound like some nice ones.
I was just wondering why someone would go to the trouble of gutting one, then leave it?

Who would gut the deer and leave it without an emergency? Perhaps the hunter cut an artery and had to get to the hospotal, someone died or family emergency,(car wreck), heck what would you do if you had an emergency message in your family? We don't know what his problem was but he gutted it so was not intending to leave it. Probably hates it more than anyone else. -- no
